A Chance For Champ came about when a canine named Champ appeared in a social media feed as a stray in Morgan county. He was terribly underweight, slightly anemic, covered in tick’s, he had road rash and a broken leg that healed on its own because there was no one to help him. Michelle, ACFC's founder, felt compelled to do something, so she did.
Champ is now a beautiful, healthy, strong Pyrenees mix that loves life and playing with everyone. His road to recovery was not easy, but he made it. We named him Champ because we knew he was a champion.
Since then, we have started this nonprofit in Champ's honor and have rescued many more dogs, working towards getting them healthy, then training them to help them find forever homes. It’s our belief that trained dogs are more likely find 'furever' homes quicker.
We work with other rescues and shelters to help these dogs because it’s so hard to place a dog with behavioral issues. We also provide medical help for them for anything and any everything from simple neuter to hip dysplasia to heart worm treatment.
